Porus Materials

Porous Material Research Group

The Porous Material Research Group is pursuing basic and applied research into the design and fabrication of ordered porous solids made from silica (e.g., zeolites and mesoporous silica) and carbon (e.g., mesoporous carbon) through structural control, creation of novel structures, and development of new synthetic techniques. Specific research topics include the development of green chemical processes through the use of porous materials as catalysts in some of the chemical conversions essential to today’s lifestyles and the use of porous carbon anode for double-layer capacitors and lithium-ion batteries.

We welcome wide-ranging partnerships with others interested in furthering the knowledge and application of porous materials technology.
